Blade Runner - Das Märchen Mensch is a production by Schubert Theater Vienna that explores what makes us human in a world of artificial beings.

Inspired by Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and its film adaptations, the performance brings together physical and digital puppetry to question the boundaries between human and android, memory and reality.
VR design expands the production’s visual world, exploring how perception shifts between physical and imagined spaces and how sensory experience and resonance connect the inner and outer perspectives of viewers and performers, when used in real-time as an artistic expression tool.
During the pandemic, the production was expanded online to become a part of the digital theater, inviting audiences to explore the world of Blade Runner through a Mozilla Hubs environment. Designed as a multiplayer VR experience, it reimagines the production’s physical artistic spaces as settings for encounters and discussions.
